Fresh Face to the World

To get ready for his forever home, Wally got cleaned up at "In the Dogz House" groomer in Fitchburg. I already liked them since they spell dogz with a Z, but they also did a great job and were really nice. It was his first visit to a groomer so THANK YOU for being so sweet to him. They said he was good too, not aggressive or anything, but "screamed" when they tried to clip his face. :)

Handsome boy with his summer buzz.

Pre-haircut. Still adorbs, duh.

I'm going to miss this sweet buddy.
 A bestie-style selfie. (Pre-haircut)

Frenemies

My first foster Claude (he was Joey back then) stayed with us last weekend. Here are some of the antics of Wally & Claude. #frenemies
Twinz napping.

Here they are tearing it up at the dog park. Sharing a stick and watching each other's backs.

They played with each other's toys all weekend, but not their own. Here they are eating the other one's food. Weirdos.

The takeaway for me is that two dogs are significantly harder than one. I still love them though.

OMG Wally is Going Home!

YAYAYAYA!

Look at this Face.

Wally--look into my eyes and tell me the truth.
How many accidents have you had in the house?
ZERO.

High-5! You are a gentle champion, but a champion nonetheless.
Post-walk nap snuggle.

Looking mischievous in the skull harness.

Madison Explorer: Dog About Town

Yesterday evening we spent some time walking around the city and getting compliments on being a sweet boy (specifically Wally did).
Obligatory Capitol #selfie.

Even though Wally came from a home with a bazillion dogs, he's still shy meeting other pups right now. We went to the park when it was less busy and met a nice boxer and then a beagle and by the end his tail was wagging. Hoping to start visiting [the terrific] Dog Den next week.
There's the frog leg pose again.

Wally was really into looking at the ducks and geese. Here he is trying to figure out what's up with them.

Wally's So Fetch.

He's getting the hang of it! His excitement is having a negative impact on his motor skills. :)

Taking Monday Like a Boss

Wally stayed home alone all day Monday.
Guess what? No accident. No chewing. No problems.
My great friend Katie took him out for a mid-day walk; he was supposed to be left in the kitchen, but due to a miscommunication he had free reign of the apartment and was a good great boy!
Note: Wally's leg posture. In yoga, this is called "frog pose." He sits like this half the time. It's so weird/cute.

Last night I brushed my teeth and went into the bedroom. Who was a step ahead? THIS GUY.
He knows the drill after 2 days.
Wally crushed Monday. Tired out from being such a prince all day.

Wally is about 25 pounds. I wanted to share two pictures to clarify his size. He looks small on the left, but hopefully the one on the right gives a reference point. He's such a loving and sweet dog.

Wally: Show The People How You Walk

Presumably, Wally hasn't been on many (any?) walks before. We've done 4 since he arrived and he's catching on like a pro.
He wears a harness and is so patient while I put it on and off. Off stinks because he's on the big side for it so I have to tug it off like a turtleneck. He doesn't care. #easygoing

Wally is fooling everyone into thinking he's been using a leash for years. Downtown Madison has a lot going on, but he's doing great. One motorcycle revving its engine made us both jump.
Lil' Trotsky over here.

He sort of looks like a small Border Collie to me, but with a Schnauzer beard and Terrier fur.

Cool Eyebrows, Man!

Yesterday (Sunday), Wally got dropped off for the beginning of his new life. What a sweetie.

Wally has had an interesting and likely difficult start. He was one of over 40 dogs surrendered last month by a hoarder in Alabama.

He comes when you call!
Confession: his full name is Walford, but I think that's a pretty serious name for such a sweet little guy. It's not like he's going to run for President and his eyebrows already give him some character and demand respect. Let's balance that out by calling him Wally, yes?

He was pretty shy when he arrived, but after a day we're pals. #parkselfie
